Situated in the heart of Wallonia, in the Brussels/Luxembourg euro-corridor, the town of Andenne is committed to developing its historic centre in a way that protects its environment (green surroundings including the river Meuse).
A new town centre
- Revamping the heart of the island in the town centre;
- Restructuring pedestrian links between districts;
- Renovating the former teacher training college (13,000 m2) and its Art Deco swimming pool;
- Constructing 250 homes, new businesses, underground car park, cultural area and focal point;
- Public-private partnership;
- Work starting in 2013.
Development of the Campagne d'Anton
- Revamping the west entrance to the town;
- Developing a new district, a bridge between the town centre and the outskirts;
- Implementing a multi-functional programme (housing, shops, offices, public areas, services);
- Municipal land;
- Covering an area of 50 ha.
Station district - European project
- The regeneration project for the station district on the banks of the Meuse (15 ha) won the 2008 European architecture prize and focuses on environmentally-friendly construction;
- 614 homes (lofts, flats and houses);
- Green spaces and local facilities;
- Offices and shops;
- Primary school, nursing home, sports venues, etc.
