The city of Herstal is ideally located in the heart of Euregio and therefore benefits from a unique communications network combining waterways, roads, motorways and railways. A few years ago, Herstal launched an extensive programme of urban regeneration based on strategic plans and strongly supported by the Walloon Region as well as the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). More than € 70 million of public and private funds will be invested over the course of the next few years in order to create a new town centre, improve the quality of life and develop economic activities. Two of these development sites are located in the heart of the city and are particularly convenient for investors. The first is the new and ambitious administrative centre. This project, on which work started in 2010, involves the construction of the new town square with a brand-new, modern administrative centre, the new heart of the city! Just behind this lie new parking facilities, a park and some new housing. The other project is the Herstal station site. This two-hectare area can accommodate small and medium-sized companies. The site will include a business park connected to a new railway station and combine housing, mobility, shops and businesses. Several public/private partnership projects implemented in accordance with the principles of sustainable development are already underway in the heart of the city: The «Pré-Madame» project with the creation of 350 flats; T he construction of 70 flats in the “Hayeneux” district; Among all these partnerships, the ACEC site offers enormous potential for investors seeking economic opportunities. At the crossroads of the very infrastructure of Liège, the ACEC site comprises a large industrial area covering 15 hectares to be reconverted through a private/public partnership with the support of Walloon Region. This site enjoys an exceptional geographic location at the centre of a comprehensive communications network.
