Congress Center & Exhibition Halls :
To reinforce the vocation of the metropolitan centre of Charleroi, the city must develop quality infrastructures that can accommodate major events. To meet this demand, a cluster of three interconnected infrastructures will be created.
It will include a modern and modular Palais des expositions, a new Congress Centre and the renovated Palais des Beaux-Arts.
The congress center will make it possible to accommodate international business customers under ideal conditions and meet growing demand. It will feature auditoriums, committee rooms, reception rooms and additional spaces. Its location will also enable the synergies with neighboring institutions to be optimized.
Over time, the Palace's location will also enable a further structure to be added that will accommodate construction additional investments (Horeca).
From a space usage point of view, it will enable the frontage on boulevard Jacques Bertrand to be reconstituted and by doing so upgrade a public space that is currently disjointed.
The exhibition halls of 60,000 m2 calls for a range of different interventions. First of all, there needs to be an in-depth reorganisation of the complex's entrances and a rationalisation of traffic flows by opening up the building in its central section. Next, parking spaces need to be incorporated into the base of the building and the administrative offices should be relocated. In addition, it goes without saying that substantial works are essential in terms of improving the building's energy efficiency.
The works starts in 2018
