Interparking - Le Grognon:
At the foot of the majestic site of the Citadelle, the area of the Confluence (most commonly called "Le Grognon") is the geographic and historical heart of the municipality of Namur. Today, Namur has a big chance: the attribution of European subventions finally gives the possibility to the City of Namur to build a global and coherent project which will allow giving back this emblematic site to all of the Namurois. One site, five projects.
These projects are now going into some very concrete phases of realization. There will be the creation of a cycle-pedestrian footbridge, an esplanade, a "Digital Port" (a place where all the new technology and the citizen can meet), the adaptation of the roads and an underground car-park.
The car park will have a capacity of 670 parking spaces divided into four levels. It will be accessible by the new street "Rue du Grognon" (along the river) and will offer several exits for the pedestrians: Sambre side, Meuse side and Walloon Parliament side. The car park works started in Summer 2017, and the footbridge works ended mid-2018. By end 2019, the Digital Port was ready, and the Esplanade works started. The end of the whole project is provided for end 2020.
