The project, located in the heart of Wavre, consists in the reconfiguration of the existing Carabiniers car park (currently an open-air parking) into a mixed project comprising 82 apartments, 13 units of 100 - 300 m² for commercial use, 550 m² offices and 390 underground parking units.
This contributes to the transformation of the urban axis between the railway station and the boulevard de l’Europe, also known as “la Promenade”, and is a critical element of the Wavre 2030 vision for the urban and environmental redevelopment of the town center.
By restructuring a true urban island, the town grid is completed while proposing an identity consistent with the place. The alignment and expansion of the public space as well as the perspective towards the new building organize successively three plots ensuring an interconnecting role with the downtown area.
The new public amenities integrate green and blue frames and generate an environment conducive to soft modes. In programming terms, the project consists of a commercial base with large windows on top of which lays a garden reserved for all housing tenants.
Bike slots are integrated to promote soft mobility. The car parks located in the basement will be accessible from the Place des Fontaines. The project corresponds to its environment in echoing different layers of reading of the town (templates, plot, sided roof, diversity, unity, tone...).
