Larchwood:
Larchwood in Uccle is a contemporary residential project defined by a clear architectural constraint: integrating fully bespoke furniture into a minimalist structure without disrupting its spatial rhythm. Timber Tailor completed the entire interior fit-out using brushed larch with a custom-developed patina. The material was chosen for its texture and controlled warmth, allowing it to harmonize naturally with the clean lines and precise volumes of the house.
One of the main challenges was ensuring that each furniture element functioned as a direct continuation of the building. This required meticulous engineering and coordination. Alignments had to be perfect, joints calibrated to the millimeter, and grain continuity carefully planned. Technical components such as doors, storage, lighting, and ventilation were fully integrated so that nothing appeared added or decorative. Every piece was conceived as part of the architectural structure itself.
Complex geometries, recessed areas, and material transitions demanded advanced modeling and extremely precise workshop production. The custom patina added another layer of complexity, requiring stable tones under shifting natural and artificial light.
Larchwood is ultimately a study in precision, where bespoke furniture does not accompany the architecture but completes it through coherence, materiality, and exacting execution.
