The redevelopment of the former Tirlemontoise sugar refinery

In May 2022, MATEXI obtained the building permit for the redevelopment of the former Tirlemontoise sugar refinery in Waremme into a sustainable eco-district. Designed in close consultation with local residents and the municipal authorities, the project stands out for its varied and contemporary architecture, structured around shared streets and high-quality public spaces.

Remaining true to its role as a neighbourhood developer, MATEXI actively contributes to improving the local living environment, notably through the construction of a 24-metre pedestrian and cycling footbridge linking the industrial zone, the railway station, and the city centre.

Located along the Chaussée Romaine, the district will comprise 234 homes arranged around a central public park of 8,500 m² and will enjoy excellent accessibility, with immediate proximity to the E40 motorway.
