The conversion of the former slaughterhouse site

For more than 20 years, MATEXI has been actively involved in urban transformation projects, giving priority to the redevelopment of abandoned buildings and sites.

In Charleroi, MATEXI is planning the conversion of the former slaughterhouse site, taking care to preserve the existing industrial heritage while integrating new green spaces. This ambitious project aims to transform the disused industrial site into a modern district focused on housing and services.

Located in the Charleroi Nord area, on the border between Lodelinsart and Gilly, the project involves a partial demolition, full site remediation, and the phased construction of approximately 260 homes, offices, and retail spaces by 2035.
