The former Saint-Joseph Hospital

In Liège, MATEXI aims to redevelop the brownfield site of the former Saint-Joseph Hospital into a new residential project. The project seeks to ensure the site’s sustainable transformation through a demolition-and-reconstruction approach and falls within the perimeter defined by the Sainte-Marguerite II Urban Renewal Operation.

Particular attention is being paid to the existing heritage. The Saint-Charles Borromeo Home will be preserved and rehabilitated for office or HoReCa use, while the Chapel will remain dedicated to religious worship. The historic “Samaritan Fountain” will occupy a central place within the project.

The redevelopment of the site will notably contribute to improving the appearance of this part of the neighbourhood by promoting a more human scale, an expanded pedestrian and cycling network throughout the area, and increased greenery.

Programme :

  • Total area of the project site : 25.000 m²
  • Single family homes : 16 units
  • Apartments : 180
  • Retail, offices and services
