Hôtel Radisson Spa :

The Radisson Blu Hotel is expanding. Built in 1906 by Auguste-Charles Vivroux, the Balmoral Hotel blends smoothly into its surroundings thanks to its Anglo-Norman style, marked by three gabled façades of varying heights, trace of the historic spa resort. This distinctive architecture, with its blue timber framing and wooden balconies, is set in a wild forest.
The challenge of the extension is to handle with subtlety  the relationship with the existing building and the surrounding landscape.
The new addition contrasts with the original style to avoid pastiche, bringing a touch of modernity to the hotel as it seeks to diversify its clientele. The extension is attached perpendicularly to the long main building, like a wing that closes off the plot and creates an intimate inner courtyard, serving as a green transitional space before the forest.
Special attention is given to the façades, balancing tradition and contemporary design.
The ground floor is clad in stone, matching the existing building and providing a mineral connection to the site.
On the upper floors, the timber framing is reinterpreted in steel, following a rhythm similar to the original structure, applied over a plastered façade.
Vertical white steel cladding adds rhythm to the building, serving as balustrades and marking vertical circulation.
The top floor, made of reflective white glass, blends into the landscape through its mirrored surfaces.
Connecting the building to the site is central to the project: each suite includes an outdoor space to enjoy exceptional views.
